Triple talaq : Union Cabinet approves ordinance on triple talaq


The following approval by the Cabinet comes at the time when the triple talaq bill still awaits an approval by the upper house of the Parliament. With Cabinet giving a nod, triple talaq will soon become an offence in the country.

In what could be percieved as a big win for the Muslim women across the country, the Cabinet, on Wednesday, gave its nod to an ordinance on triple talaq. The following approval by the Cabinet comes at the time when the triple talaq bill still awaits an approval by the upper house of the Parliament. With Cabinet giving a nod, triple talaq will soon become an offence in the country. As per reports, the ordinance was approved following a cabinet meeting that took place on September 19. Now, after the bill gets a nod from the President, the ordinance will be coming into the effect.

Supreme Court to hear APS attack case on Oct 5 More than 140 people, most of them students, were martyred in the terrorist attack in Dec 2014. ISLAMABAD  After a longstanding demand of the victim’s parents to conduct a judicial inquiry into the 2014 APS massacre, the Surpeme Court of Pakistan has fixed October 5 as the date for hearing of the suo moto notice.  A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar will hear the case.
